Canteen

CANTEEN

The school canteen is managed by the Blackburn Lake Primary School Parents Association, so is completely volunteer managed.

The school canteen operates during the first half of lunch-time on Monday and Friday during term time, closing at 1.30pm, and offer simple snack foods for students, to complement their home-brought lunches. Items on sale include, ice-creams and icy-poles, chips and drinks.

For prices on the items available at our school canteen, please see our Canteen Price List here: Canteen Price List. (Canteen price list is current as of February 2023).

Canteen Operation

Please note, it is school policy that students can not share food, nor can students purchase items for other students. Please do not give your child extra money to purchase items for their friends.

Students are allowed to purchase one food item and one drink item at a time. They can return to the canteen once they have finished eating their first purchase.

Volunteering

The canteen ALWAYS needs parent/guardian volunteers, and the canteen cannot operate without you. If you would like to volunteer to serve on the school canteen on Monday and/or Friday (approx 12.30-1.40pm), please register your interest here: Volunteering

Working With Children Check

All volunteers are required to hold a Working With Children Check, if you haven’t got one, you can easily apply for one online (and it’s free). https://www.workingwithchildren.vic.gov.au.

Once you have received your Working With Children Check, please take it the School Office to have it added to the School Volunteer Register.

Monday and Friday Lunch Orders

We are pleased to offer a convenient and healthy lunch order service for students every Monday and Friday during term time, through Classroom Cuisine.

Classroom Cuisine’s lunch menu caters for a variety of dietary requirements, including vegetarian and gluten-free. (Please note, there are no hot lunches provided).

The menu includes items such as: sandwiches, rolls, wraps; pizzas (served room temperature); sushi, salads, snacks and drinks.

You can download Classroom Cuisine’s lunch menu here:Classroom Cuisine menu . (Current as of February 2023).

Ordering a Lunch Order

To make a lunch order for your child/ren, you need to order and pay online in advance on Classroom Cuisine’s website, https://classroomcuisine.com.au.

Orders can be placed up to 28 days in advance and up until 8.30am on the day of delivery.

Delivery of Lunch Orders

Classroom Cuisine will deliver lunch orders just before lunch-time to the school canteen. Students are then sent to the canteen to collect their own lunch order (so please make sure your child is aware that they have an order to collect).

Lunches are clearly labelled and contain a napkin and appropriate implements.
