Children Crossings

The Florence Street Children's Crossing (in front of the school) is staffed from 8.15am to 9.15am and from 3.15pm to 4.00pm on school days.

Children MUST use this crossing before and after school (if they are crossing Florence Street).  It is dangerous for children to cross the street at other parts of Florence Street, particularly in congested before and after school traffic conditions.

There have been some 'close calls' already this year with children darting across the street between cars.

Please stress the importance of the correct use of the children's crossing with your family members.

Parking Restrictions

Parents and visitors are reminded of the parking restrictions in Florence Street (in front of our school).

Please observe the signs

The 'No Stopping' sign on the eastern side of Florence Street means you are only permitted to stop when forced by traffic conditions (for example, a queue of traffic).  Please note the time of the operation on the sign - 8am to 9am and 3pm to 4pm - on school days.

Five Minute Drop-Off and Pick-Up Zone

Parents are reminded of the 'five minute' drop-off and pick-up parking zone on the school side of Florence Street (past the children's crossing).  This limited parking area is intended to provide parents   with the opportunity to safely, quickly and legally drop their child off in front of the school and then move on, enabling the next parent's car to do the same.

But, if someone parks for an extended period in this zone, the 'rotation' concept collapses and parents are forced to seek alternative parking opportunities usually far from the school gate.

Please help to protect the safety of our students by complying with the road rules.  And remember, the area is regularly patrolled by City of Whitehorse By-Laws Officers who will impose substantial fines ($100+) for breaches of these rules.
