Canteen is open Mondays and is staffed by parents.  To place a lunch order, clearly print you child's name, class and order on a paper lunch bag.  Enclose correct money if possible (see price list below).  Please make sure your paper bag is large enough to hold all the items ordered.  Paper bags provided by the canteen are 10c per bag.

Canteen monitors will deliver the lunch order to your child's classroom at lunchtime excluding any ice cream order.

Ice creams are available on canteen days and Friday lunchtimes during Term 1, Term 4 and as stated in the newsletter.

To receive an ice cream ordered in the lunch order your child needs to bring their paper bag to the canteen (Multi-Purpose Room) at lunch time.

Volunteers can expect to be on duty on 4 or 5 Mondays throughout the year - approximately once per term.  The roster is drawn up in the first few weeks of the school year.  Canteen duty starts around 9am.

Canteen teams consist of 6 volunteers.  If you need to bring younger children with you that's fine, we'll find them jobs or toys to amuse them.

A typical canteen day runs something like this:

• The orders are delivered to the canteen in their class tubs and we go through them to check the money is correct and to note down the quantities of hot food required
• The snack foods are put into the lunch bags and the hot food is put on to heat
• At recess we sell snacks and drinks at the main entrance to the Multi-Purpose Room
• The sandwiches, rolls and wraps are made up
• We have a bite to eat and a cup of coffee and of course a bit of a chat!
• About 12.30pm we start the 'mad minutes' where we fill the hot food orders then the tubs are collected by the hungry and excited class monitors
• Another rush for some of us when the ice-cream stampede starts while the rest of us clean up the kitchen
• By about 1.30-2.00pm we're finished and you can go home and put your feet up before it's time to come back and pick the kids up

See, it's not so hard, and with 6 of us pitching in it's a breeze.  Canteen duty is a great way to get to know other parents at the school, be involved and have some fun.  Plus, the kids love it when mum or dad are on canteen duty!

Volunteers are called for at the beginning of the school year.  A roster is drawn up in the first few weeks of term 1 for the entire year.  A form will be sent home during this time, simply fill it out and send it back to school.
